Join us at Memorial Park/Prospect Lake for this FREE event for kids and adults alike! Experience a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, paddling SUP boards, fly fishing, spin fishing, slack lining, mapping, shooting and more! A variety of outdoor businesses and nonprofit agencies will have activities on display for the public to try.

Not into fly fishing? Try spin casting. Maybe you can’t mountain bike. Try a new pedal-assisted electric bike. Maybe you want to learn about mapping. Or perhaps bird watching is more your style.

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and SouthWest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on Get Outdoors Day (SSKO GO), Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event is designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration.

We are hosting the 11th annual National Get Outdoors Day in Colorado on June 9, 2018, at Sloan’s Lake Park in Denver to celebrate National Get Outdoors Month.

National Get Outdoors Day is a free community event and is dedicated to connecting people of all ages and abilities to nature. Events and activities range from paddle boarding, rock wall climbing, biking and fishing to live entertainment and music throughout the day.

Event Description:

Paddle alongside the park Naturalist and discover the rich history behind Standley Lake, and the oasis it provides for people and wildlife alike today. Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet, but keep you warm. Paddles, life jackets, and watercraft are included.
Cost is $25.00 per person. Ages 8 and up.

What to Bring: Dress appropriately. Bring sunscreen and water.

Event Description:

Plans to reintroduce native Greenback Cutthroat Trout in the Long Draw Reservoir area will be the subject of the October meeting of Rocky Mountain Flycasters. US Forest Service Fisheries Biologist Matt Fairchild will discuss plans for the multi-year project. The public is welcome to attend.

The meeting will take place Wednesday October 18 at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive. Social hour and a fly tying demonstration begin at 6:30, with the program at 7:00 pm.

Event Description:

Come say goodbye to summer at our 4th annual Westy Family Camp Night! Enjoy canoeing, cookouts, s'mores by the fire, outdoor nature programs, arts and crafts, performances, and much more with your loved ones. A schedule with all the available activities will be sent to you a week before the scheduled camp night.

Check in will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 9.

For all ages. Cost is $9 per person (resident), $12 (non-resident). Camp Night is limited to 40 families.

What to Bring: Camping gear is not provided. Please dress appropriately for all weather.

Event Description:

Venture through the blue waters of Standley Lake on kayaks or canoes to discover how our park has served as an oasis for people, wildlife and adventure! We will paddle silently past Bird Island, which is the City of Westminster's largest rookery, to view our many different water birds. Our paddle program must have at least one experienced paddler per watercraft (Single/double kayak or canoe). Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet, but keep you warm. Paddles, life jackets, and watercraft are included. Ages 8-17 must register with a registered adult.
