Join us at Memorial Park/Prospect Lake for this FREE event for kids and adults alike! Experience a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, paddling SUP boards, fly fishing, spin fishing, slack lining, mapping, shooting and more! A variety of outdoor businesses and nonprofit agencies will have activities on display for the public to try.

Not into fly fishing? Try spin casting. Maybe you can’t mountain bike. Try a new pedal-assisted electric bike. Maybe you want to learn about mapping. Or perhaps bird watching is more your style.

Event Description:

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and SouthWest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on Get Outdoors Day (SSKO GO), Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event is designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration.

Conservation projects ranging from restoring native trout in local watersheds to scientific sampling of water quality and watershed health will be discussed at an orientation program Thursday, January 10th at Mulligan’s Pub in Ft Collins. Nestled in the foothills west of Fort Collins, Lory State Park provides 26 miles of trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, as well as amenities for picnickers, rock climbing, fishing and more. The variety of recreational opportunities and proximity to Fort Collins makes this park a popular destination.

Located in the heart of Eagle County, the Singletree Community sits on the northern slopes of the sunny Vail Valley, offering magnificent views of the mountains surrounding Edwards, Colorado. This project is part of an ongoing effort to remove a fence that extends across large sections of the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District, built when the land was a privately-owned cattle ranch.

What to Bring: No experience necessary. VOC will provide all tools and food.

Join us for a unique volunteer experience at a gem of Colorado natural and cultural history. Located south of La Junta, Picket Wire Canyon is managed by the USFS Comanche National Grassland and features remnants of early Colorado explorers and settlers, as well as pre-historic Native American rock art and the largest dinosaur track site in North America.

What to Bring: No experience necessary. VOC provides food and camping. You bring your tent and sleeping bag.

About the Stewardship Site:
The Deluge Lake Trail accesses the Eagle's Nest Wilderness from right outside of Vail. The trail offers stunning views of the Vail Valley and the Sawatch Range mountains beyond and leads nine miles to an Alpine Lake from which it derives its name. Climbing just over 3,000 feet from end to end, the trail requires many trail structures to stay well maintained.
