Event Description:

Join us at Standley Lake as we explore the natural world around us! The after school outdoor explorers program is designed for children who are interested in investigating the natural world. Each month, we'll explore a different ecology topic, focusing on the outdoors. We'll make a craft to take home, go on a nature hike, play games, and much more! A light snack is provided. Class fee is $4. Ages 6-9. Limited to 12 spaces.

February 26: Wonderful Watersheds- What is a watershed? Come investigate watersheds in three dimensions! We will explore Standley Lake’s and test the health of the water.

March 25: Backyard Birding- Bird watching is more than just watching these feathered animals! You can find birds year-round, anywhere, outdoors in the world. No matter where you live, you will discover how fun birding can be.

April 22(Earth Day): Trailblazers- what better way to celebrate Earth Day than to learn about the natural world as you hike and explore the trails in the park. Trailblazers will also be learning about “leave no trace” ethics through outdoor safety which includes, fire building, tracking, wild edible plant identification and shelter building.

What to Bring: Wear appropriate clothing for weather, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and bring water.

Location Details: Program begins at the nature center, located at 9785 Eagle View Loop. The park is located at 100th Ave and Simms St., northwest side of the City of Westminster.
