Event Description:

Join us for three days of birding in scenic western Colorado with experienced field guides from Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory.

Opportunity to:
• Observe rare species in Colorado and check them off a life list
• Spend time in the field with experienced trip leaders and biologists
• Explore the West Slope of Colorado with a local guide
• Meet and network with other birders

Participants will travel to several locations targeting bird species that are difficult – or nearly impossible – to find in eastern Colorado, including Lucy’s, Black-throated Gray and Grace’s Warbler; Summer Tanager; Purple Martin; Veery Lewis’s Woodpecker; Flammulated Owl; Fox and Black-throated Sparrow; Pinyon Jay; Gray Vireo; and Gray Flycatcher. Stops include Black Canyon National Park, Yellow Jacket Canyon at the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument and the Uncompahgre Plateau.

Cost includes transportation, lodging and most meals. Register by May 8.

What to Bring: Trip participants should bring their own binoculars, field guides, comfortable hiking footwear and clothes for variable weather, rain jacket or poncho, sunscreen and bug repellant and will be required to hike short distance across light to medium terrain. Other possible items to bring include spotting scope, snacks and water
