Event Description:

An educational and service-oriented summer day camp for youth ages 10 to 12. Get your hands dirty this summer in Garden of the Gods! Grab a shovel and dig into underground ecosystems. Catch soil insects and start a worm farm to take home for vermicomposting. Learn about rocks and minerals of the Pikes Peak region. Split shale from a fossil quarry and find fossils to keep. Become a soil scientist with soil chemistry tests for nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to find the perfect garden soil. Run soil erosion studies. Leave your mark on Garden of the Gods Park, each day will include a few hours of soil conservation project work with the Rocky Mountain Field Institute. We might build a rock wall, or install a water diversion bar. Who knows what we will get into! Come play in the dirt with us this summer at Garden of the Gods!
