Think you know Denver? WELL YOU’RE WRONG! Sorry, sorry—we got a little excited there. But it’s only because we’re so psyched about this “see and sample” journey through Denver’s Highlands neighborhood. This historic area got its name because it overlooks downtown Denver and the mountains, and this is your chance to spend your Friday night seeing it in all its glory. Seriously, the views are outstanding from up here.
Expert walker Jonathon Stalls (recently featured in the New York Times and picked to present at ) will lead the way as you embrace a few hours of the high(lands) life learning about this thriving community and sampling some local fare along the way. You’ll love winding your way between some of the city’s hottest eateries, a mix of old Victorians and contemporary build-ups and some of the quirkiest shops and stops you’re ever bound to come across. Sprinkled with no-two-alike residential and commercial clusters, there’s always something new to see in the Highlands. In fact, it’s probably Denver’s most transitional modern neighborhoods where every block brings something distinctly different.
The journey will take place on foot, so you’ll get some good exercise, and you’ll love learning about all the rich culture that makes its home in the Highlands. Cool sites, great eats and a few new friends to match. Not too shabby, eh?
Updated Information:
Jonathon has hooked up some nice snacks at the following Highland's haunts.
1) Menchie's Frozen Yogurt (starting location)
2) Rosa Linda's Mexican (Homemade Chips & Salsa / Possibly Queso too)
3) Patsy's Italian / Historic Restaurant (Famous Garlic Bread & Fried Ravioli)
He's also going to treat folks to a private tour of the Holiday Theater (old Egyptian Theater right next to Menchies) and a tour of an historic Highland's home which used to be a popular boxing gym. So cool.
