Event Description:

In this presentation, Jeff Crane of Crane and Associates, Katie Jagt of Walsh Environmental, Chris Lochra of the City of Fort Collins and John Giordanengo of Wildlands Restoration Volunteers will explain what happens to a river ecosystem during a flood, using specific local examples from the floods in September 2013. The presenters will also explore what actions should be taken after flooding and discuss restoration efforts. As short-term actions required to protect infrastructure post-flood can be detrimental to long-term river restoration needs, how do we strike a balance? The presentation will also include discussion about the goals and mission of the Big Thompson River Restoration Coalition, and how to get involved in local restoration efforts.
