Event Description:

The Pikes Peak Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is hosting M. U. L. E. Y. Kids’ Day at the Rocky Mountain Roosters facilities on Saturday May 4th, 2013. The MDF is a charitable non-profit 501(c) (03) wildlife conservation organization. M. U. L. E. Y. (Mindful, Understanding, Legal and Ethical Youth) is a MDF shooting sport and wildlife conservation program oriented to youth. The program’s mission statement is: To safely introduce youth to shooting sports, ensuring the sports continued growth. The two main tenets of the M. U. L. E. Y. Program are:

1) The safe introduction of youth into shooting sports.
2) Educating youth on the importance of wildlife conservation.

The all day activity will likely include a Black Powder Range, Archery Range, Shotgun Range, BB Gun Range, .22 Rifle Range, and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Laser Range. Other activities may include firearm safety classes, conservation classes, hunter ethics classes, Llamas packing orientations, Cape Care/ Taxidermy classes, and Cowboy Action Shooting demonstrations.

Rocky Mountain Roosters, Calhan, CO
Location Details: FROM COLORADO SPRINGS: East on Hwy 24 to Calhan. North on which is one of the last streets in town. (There is a sign that points to the airport, this is the road!) Drive 7 1/2 miles, you'll come off pavement and your next left will be Road 78. Turn left and drive 3/4 mile to the entrance of the club. You'll see the stone clubhouse. FROM DENVER: South on I-25 to the Founders Parkway exit just north of Castle Rock. (This is where the Factory Outlet stores are) East on the parkway to the intersection of Hwy 86. Continue east on Hwy 86 past the town of 8 1/2 miles and you'll see a sign that points to Calhan, this is Road 77. Drive south on Road 77 to the "T" intersection, turn left on Road 94 and follow it around and it turns into Road 81. Continue south on Road 81 to Road 78, turn right and we are at the bottom of the hill. (About 10 miles from Hwy 86.)
