Event Description:

Red Rock Canyon Open Space received significant damages from the May 2015 springs rains. Although the park is now reopened to the public thanks to machine work, the amount of flood damage done will require lots of hand crew work over the coming weeks and months to repair. RMFI will be partnering with the City of Colorado Springs and the Friends of Red Rock Canyon to address the highest priority areas in the park. Come lend a hand and give back to this beloved local open space. Workdays will require a short hike into the park while carrying tools. Objectives on site will include trail repairs and improvements as well as creek bed and hill slope stabilization. Primary tasks will include construction of rock structures and moving dirt and rock via bucket brigade, among others.

What to Bring: All volunteers should pack the following items: Water bottle(s) and plenty of water, sack lunch, rain gear, eye protection (sunglasses will suffice), sunscreen, a backpack to carry all of your things. Wear sturdy & weather-appropriate clothes, long pants and work boots are required (NO open-toed shoes or shorts!). We have work gloves to loan and will provide all needed tools.
