Event Description:

What’s that song …”whistle while you work”? Well we think about “weed while you walk”! Weeds are the third biggest threat to native plant species in our watershed. In fact on all private and public lands in the U.S. weeds are the largest threat to our natural heritage! So come on out and take a walk and weed while you go. Each month the CSU interns will walk a different section of the preserve, Five Card Draw and Antelope Canyon properties, looking for weeds. We’ll use shovels to pop out of the ground species like mullein, dandelions, houndstongue, burdock and salsify, and for Dalmatian toadflax we’ll clip the flowers and the stems using hand pruners.

To sign up email and include the volunteer day name and date, your name and contact information, and number of people attending or call 970-484-9996. We will confirm your sign up and then send a confirmation letter about two weeks prior to the volunteer day including details of what to expect, what to bring and where to meet. Bring water, sack lunch, sturdy outdoor work clothing (long sleeves and long pants are recommended), leather gloves, sunblock, broad brim hat, insect repellent.
