The Pikes Peak Chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is hosting M. U. L. E. Y. Day at the Rocky Mountain Roosters facilities (North of Calhan) on Saturday June 9th, 2018. The MDF is a charitable non-profit 501(c) (03) wildlife conservation organization. M. U. L. E. Y. (Mindful, Understanding, Legal and Ethical Youth) is a MDF shooting sport and wildlife conservation program oriented to youth. The program’s mission statement is: To safely introduce youth to shooting sports, ensuring the sports continued growth. The two main tenets of the M. U. L. E. Y. Program are:
The sky is full of spring bird travelers migrating to their summer range! Come to Standley Lake to see and learn about these birds as well as techniques of birding.

Bald eagles soaring through the skies is a beautiful sight to behold, but at one time they didn’t have the admiration they do now. Learn about the history of the U.S.’s national emblem and how they came back from the brink of extinction! All ages welcome. 25 spots available.
Surviving through the winter can be tough on Colorado’s song birds like the chickadee. Explore the adaptations these birds have to survive, and create a winter bird feeder to help keep those chickadees chunky. All ages welcome. 20 Spots available.
Take a leisurely hike to see and hear the numerous bird species that migrate through the Walnut Creek Golf Preserve. Bring your binoculars!

Capture the park in all its fall splendor during this photography tour. We will explore the park through our camera lenses as it prepares for winter and see all the changing colors! The Park Naturalist will lead you through some of the prettiest areas of the park and demonstrate fun ways to capture the beauty of the park through photography! Bring your camera on this one, it is sure to be beautiful!

Celebrate our local stopover sites for migratory birds! Standley Lake Regional Park, Two Ponds Wildlife Refuge, and Majestic View have collaborated together to offer this fun event at Two Ponds! Festivities start at 8am with a guided bird walk which will then lead into local booths opening at 10am. LIVE ANIMALS, story telling, demonstrations, and so much more will be offered at this fun, free event!

Explore the fall migrating birds at Standley Lake! We’ll hike 1-mile in hopes to view these warmth seeking birds and learn a little about why they travel those great distances every year! Bring binoculars and a field guide to help identify our flying visitors.
