Join us at Memorial Park/Prospect Lake for this FREE event for kids and adults alike! Experience a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, paddling SUP boards, fly fishing, spin fishing, slack lining, mapping, shooting and more! A variety of outdoor businesses and nonprofit agencies will have activities on display for the public to try.

Not into fly fishing? Try spin casting. Maybe you can’t mountain bike. Try a new pedal-assisted electric bike. Maybe you want to learn about mapping. Or perhaps bird watching is more your style.

Cast off into this program intended to teach the basics of fishing. Children will learn about native fish, how to bait a hook,
tie a lure and cast a line. Poles available for use during the program, or bring your own! AGES: 8-12.

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and SouthWest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on Get Outdoors Day (SSKO GO), Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event is designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration.

Event Description:

Ft Collins native and fishing guide Connor Murphy will present a program on fishing Alaska Wednesday January 16th at the Ft Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive.

Murphy has competed in the World’s Fly Fishing Championship and guides locally for St Peter’s Fly Shop in Ft Collins and Dave Duncan and Sons in Quinhagak, Alaska. He is a graduate of Fossil Ridge High School and attended Colorado State University.

Conservation projects ranging from restoring native trout in local watersheds to scientific sampling of water quality and watershed health will be discussed at an orientation program Thursday, January 10th at Mulligan’s Pub in Ft Collins. Individuals interested in volunteering for local conservation projects are invited to attend.

Event Description:

Euro nymphing, one of the most productive fly fishing techniques, will be explained at the Wednesday Nov 28th meeting of the Rocky Mountain Flycasters. Domingo Rodriguez, chapter member and accomplished nymph fisherman will demonstrate the tactics and equipment used.

The meeting is free to all.

Rocky Mountain Flycasters was the tenth chapter authorized by Trout Unlimited, the nation's largest coldwater conservation agency, and is more than thirty-five years old.

Event Description:

Yellowstone National Park is recruiting volunteer flyfishers to assist the park’s scientific research efforts during the summer of 2019. Volunteers will assist in genetic identification of fish in remote waters, tagging fish for telemetry studies, catching and removing non-native fish in designated waters and other projects. Interested individuals can learn details of the program at the October meeting of the Rocky Mountain Flycasters.
