Join us at Memorial Park/Prospect Lake for this FREE event for kids and adults alike! Experience a variety of outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, paddling SUP boards, fly fishing, spin fishing, slack lining, mapping, shooting and more! A variety of outdoor businesses and nonprofit agencies will have activities on display for the public to try.

Not into fly fishing? Try spin casting. Maybe you can’t mountain bike. Try a new pedal-assisted electric bike. Maybe you want to learn about mapping. Or perhaps bird watching is more your style.

Event Description:

Join Rocky Mountain Flycasters members, families and friends and celebrate completion of the 2019 conservation field-work season with a picnic and fishing Sunday October 6th at The Mishawaka amphitheater in Poudre Canyon.

Beginning at 3:00 pm attendees will be able to fish sections of the Poudre around The Mishawaka usually off limits to the public.

Burgers, brats and non-alcoholic drinks are included for $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. A cash bar will be available.

This event is open to anyone interested in river conservation.

Mark Foley of First Cast Fly Fishing will present “Do It Yourself Fly Fishing in Argentina” at the Rocky Mountain Flycasters season opening general meeting Wednesday September 18. It is free and open to the public.

Foley is a Trout Unlimited life member and certified casting instructor. A former lodge manager in Argentina, he once spent a year hiking and fishing the Andes mountains from Tierra del Fuego to the Bolivian rainforest. www.firstcastflyfishing.com

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and SouthWest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on Get Outdoors Day (SSKO GO), Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. Event Description:

Ft Collins native and fishing guide Connor Murphy will present a program on fishing Alaska Wednesday January 16th at the Ft Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive.

Murphy has competed in the World’s Fly Fishing Championship and guides locally for St Peter’s Fly Shop in Ft Collins and Dave Duncan and Sons in Quinhagak, Alaska. He is a graduate of Fossil Ridge High School and attended Colorado State University.

Conservation projects ranging from restoring native trout in local watersheds to scientific sampling of water quality and watershed health will be discussed at an orientation program Thursday, January 10th at Mulligan’s Pub in Ft Collins. Euro nymphing, one of the most productive fly fishing techniques, will be explained at the Wednesday Nov 28th meeting of the Rocky Mountain Flycasters. Domingo Rodriguez, chapter member and accomplished nymph fisherman will demonstrate the tactics and equipment used.

The meeting is free to all.

Rocky Mountain Flycasters was the tenth chapter authorized by Trout Unlimited, the nation's largest coldwater conservation agency, and is more than thirty-five years old.
