See American bison in their natural habitat, the shortgrass prairie! We will meet at Soapstone Prairie Natural Area to learn about the bison and their impact on this ecosystem as we observe the herd. Event Description:

Joe Butler, nicknamed “Big Trout Joe”, will headline the Rocky Mountain Flycasters April 20th meeting. Butler has made the search for big fish his lifetime passion. His record brown trout was not surpassed for twenty years, and he still holds a Kokanee salmon record. He is the author of six books and has been the subject of over one hundred newspaper and magazine articles. Butler also hosts his own internet radio show. Over the years he has fished with and documented catches with many of the other great names in the fishing world.

Leave the city lights behind and take a night horse-drawn hayride into the Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area where you will be amazed by the number of stars that can be seen. Bring a blanket, snacks, telescope and constellation guide as we stare up into the night sky. Relax as you breathe in the fresh air while listening to our local astronomers explain all that lies the abyss.

This is the centennial year for the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It's an at that was designed to protect non-game avian species from humans and it's done a world of wonders for conservation.

Come celebrate the wonders of migrating birds through a Mysteries of Migration presentation done by Wild Wings Environmental Education. This one hour interactive program explores the marvels and mysteries of migration. After the presentation, participate in hands-on activities and games that emphasize the importance of migration and ways that humans impact it for better or worse.
