About
Foothills Park & Recreation District was established on December 31, 1959. District boundaries encompass about 24.2 square miles and serves a population of approximately 90,000 residents within unincorporated Jefferson County. Foothills offers over 4,000 classes and programs annually which include a wide variety of offerings for all ages. All programs, facilities and parks are open to the public.
Public recreational facilities include three recreation centers, one 2-sheet ice arena, two indoor and four outdoor swimming pools and an indoor sports arena. Foothills' land inventory of 70 park sites total more than 2,400 acres including: four regional parks, 43 neighborhood and community parks, 23 greenbelts and two golf courses (two 18-hole courses, one executive 9 course and one par 3 course.) In addition, Foothills manages six regional trail corridors totaling 14.9 miles for public use. There are also approximately 17.6 miles of internal park trails.
