Mission & Purpose

National Get Outdoors Day brings together companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations that are committed to healthy youth and the environment. Together we work to connect Colorado’s youth to the outdoors by motivating them to play, learn and explore.

National Get Outdoors Day opens the door to adventures in our own backyard. The goal is to inspire youth of all ages to be environmental stewards. We want to teach kids to use Colorado’s natural playground, to be curious about the world beyond their front doors, and to thrive by being active and healthier.

Mission

  • Unify public and private sector interests in efforts to influence American lifestyles, especially among youth, in ways that maximize the physical, mental and other benefits derived from activities in the Great Outdoors.
  • Develop a focused effort to invite Americans to designated sites on a single day, as well as to highlight and assist the efforts of National Get Outdoors Day partners year-round.

Purpose

  • This event will encourage kids and their families to participate in healthy, active outdoor activities.
  • It will reach out to segments of our population that rarely visit and benefit from our network of public lands and waters.
  • This event will engage new and existing partners in connecting people, especially kids, to the outdoors. National Get Outdoors Day will be shaped and carried out by a broad and diverse coalition of public and private organizations.
