Event Description:

Landscaping for Wildlife: Attracting Hummingbirds to your Garden
Mondays, July 15 and July 22, 6-8 PM

Known for their flashing beauty and dazzling flight abilities, hummingbirds are a welcome addition to anyone’s garden! Join Tina Jones, botanist and Master Birder with the Audubon Society of Greater Denver, for this two-session class that will teach you how to create the perfect habitat for visiting hummingbirds. The first classroom session will introduce you to hummingbird ecology, including nesting and migration, as well as selecting plants that will thrive in a Colorado climate while attracting hummingbirds. The second session will take place in Tina’s own backyard where she has created a vibrant, bird-friendly landscape that has seen activity by six different hummingbird species! You’ll see first-hand how to incorporate attractive hummingbird plants and other features into your own garden, and if you are lucky, you will see several hummingbirds at work!

First session will meet at the Inn at Hudson Gardens. Field trip details for the second session will be provided upon registration. Please bring a pair of binoculars to the second session.

Registration: $33/member, $37/nonmember. Call the Education Department at (303) 797-8565 ext. 306 or visit shop.hudsongardens.org to register.
