Safe Summer Kick Off on Get Outdoors Day

Get Outdoors Day Colorado and Southwest Denver Coalition are joining forces to host Safe Summer Kick Off on National Get Outdoors Day, Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Garfield Lake Park from 10am to 3pm. This free, family-friendly event is designed to promote access to healthy and safe outdoor spaces, support under-resourced communities, and celebrate nature exploration.

Public lands link local communities to recreation opportunities across the West. These outdoor spaces also act as a classroom where kids can get their hands dirty, learn about nature and just have fun. Get Outdoors Day Colorado and Southwest Denver Coalition aim to foster and facilitate an educational experience to encourage participants of all skill levels and ages to interact with the outdoors

A collaborative project with Get Outdoors Day Colorado leadership partners from Metro Denver Nature Alliance, Denver Parks and Recreation, Southwest Denver Coalition, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, USFS, National Park Service, BLM, and other Colorado-based partners, Safe Summer Kick Off and Go Day Colorado looks to provide an intentional, inclusive, and safe outdoor space to explore adventure activities such as swimming, fishing, hiking, climbing, biking, boating, navigation, nature identification, and more. In addition, this event will host live entertainment, food, snacks, prize drawings, youth/children activities, and a career and family resource fair.
