About
Dinosaur Ridge is one of the world's most famous dinosaur fossil localities. In 1877, some of the best-known dinosaurs were first discovered by Arthur Lakes, a professor at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. These include Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus (the Colorado State Fossil) and Allosaurus. In the late 1930's dinosaur footprints were discovered during the contruction of West Alameda Parkway. Hike, bicycle or ride the tour shuttle at Dinosaur Ridge to see fossils from 100 to 150 million years ago.
