The Friends of Mount Evans and Lost Creek Wildernesses will be hosting an awesome Walk for Wilderness event on September 6, 2014 in Evergreen Colorado. This event is in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Wilderness Act.
The Evergreen Walk for Wilderness (one of the hundreds of events in the nation) is anticipated to gather 350 walkers and wilderness supporters from Jefferson County and the northern Denver Front Range with engagement from numerous conservation partners like Back Country Horsemen, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, the Colorado Mountain Club, Fish & Wildlife, BLM, National Park Service and students and youth from the local schools. This 50th Anniversary event is also being conducted in cooperation with the US Forest Service Rocky Mountain Region, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, as well as the Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Colorado Open Space.
Wilderness education is our goal. We have booths for all ages to learn about wilderness. There will be a live band, snacks, speakers, prizes and a cross cut saw demonstration.
